Director & Senior Autism Consultant ~ Emma Griffiths BSC (Med) Hons

Emma Griffiths, a senior Autism Consultant and specialist teacher with over 16 years of experience of working with children with autism and their families. Emma started teaching in 2003, after completing a degree in Psychology and a PGCE with Qualified Teacher status went on to teach in variety of Mainstream and Special needs settings. Emma’s main experience was within the Special Needs sector as a Autism Specific teacher, where completing a master’s degree at Birmingham University, attending TEACCH training with Gary Mesibov and specialising in teaching and delivering a curriculum for children that are non-verbal.

” I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise on Autism and SEND education that I have gathered over my career as SEND teacher with a specialism in Autism. I enjoy delivering training not just to schools but also to private settings supporting Autism Awareness across the workplace. The diversity of my role has given me a new lease in life and I love the difference each day brings. I still teach, which I think is important when offering a consultancy service as I still understand the demands within the education sector but I am also on up to date with the what services need to do to keep in line with government changes!”

Emma has been recently certified as a Bricks for Autism certified trainer in Lego Therapy, the UK’s leading Lego Therapy provision in Cambridge. See for further details. NW Autism & SEND Consultancy is the only provider within the North West that offers Licensed Lego Therapy, which is really exciting and is really starting to make an impact in the therapeutic world as a viable therapeutic approach for developing communication and social skills.

Emma also works for the National Autism Society as a moderator assessing schools for Autism Accreditation in different settings.

Emma has spoken at both Autism Shows in both Manchester and Birmingham around sensory issues, restricted eating and autism in June 2019 and is really gaining momentum as a leading trainer for both families and professionals in the field of Autism. After recently speaking at National Education Union training on Child Mental Health and Autism & Anxiety for school staff, NW Autism & SEND is constantly evolving to meet the diverse needs of children in today’s challenging society.

SEND Consultant ~ Mr Graham Ramsey LLB (HONs) PGCE

Graham Ramsey

Graham, a SEND teacher for five years within a special needs setting, is a great addition to NW Autism & SEND Consultancy and has taken up a Senior SEND role this September. Graham obtained a Law Degree before becoming a Police Officer in 1996; qualifying to Sergeant and Inspector Ranks over 17 years service. In 2013 he obtained a PGCE, from Edge Hill University, and spent 5 years as an SEN Teacher at a specialist school. Giving Graham a wealth of experience and expertise; especially within the areas of Safeguarding, Mental Health Awareness, SEND support and intervensions. He offers training and support to a variety of settings. With a Designated Safeguard Lead qualification and Mental Health First Aider status, he can only bennefits your workplace. CPD has always been a passion of Graham, and he loves to share his enthusiasm for leaning. Recent Mental Health Survival courses, for adults working in education, have been extremely well received.
